The Canadian Association for HIV Research is pleased to announce an innovative event for new HIV Researchers. The inaugural CAHR New HIV Researcher Workshops 2008 will attract graduate students, trainees, post doctoral fellows, newly appointed faculty and new community based researchers from across Canada.
Meeting in Montreal, on April 24, 2008, immediately prior to the 17th Annual CAHR Conference, the New Researcher Workshops will allow participants to interact with leading Canadian HIV researchers. Throughout the day-long event, participants will have the opportunity to improve their abstract writing skills; explore ethical principles and dilemmas specific to HIV research; understand how to foster community integrated research through collaboration between researchers and community; learn who is doing what in HIV research in Canada today; identify funding sources and best practices for writing research grant proposals; preview the CAHR HIV research inventory; and access mentorship opportunities to help build a successful HIV research career. Then in the evening, participants will have the opportunity to interact with their peers at a special social gathering for New Researchers in one of Montreal's most vibrant neighbourhoods.
