The International Gas Research Conference (IGRC) took place at the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre, Vancouver, from November 1-4, 2004.
Highlights of the conference were many.
The Opening Plenary began with the First Nations Talking Stick Ceremony. The Talking Stick was presented Mr George Verberg, President of the International Gas Union.
 
The backdrop to the plenary was a kaleidoscope of colorful sails.
Besides attending seminars, attendees also took advantage of an extensive trade show.
 
One of the main social events was held at the Vancouver Aquarium, and featured culinary delights and wines from around British Columbia.
  
The audience was splashed by the beluga whales and "kept in check" by visiting Royal Canadian Mounted Police in ceremonial uniform.
