How do I register for the Convention?

Registration is easily done online. Go to the Registration page, which will take you step-by-step through the process. If you have any questions while registering, contact the Convention Secretariat who will be happy to assist you.

Remember that once you register, you can re-access your “file” to add more events (e.g. to book a post-convention tour), or change contact details (e.g. you have a new email address).

Can you tell me more about the Rose Festival? It sounds really interesting.

Visit the World Rose Festival website to find out more. The Vancouver and Canadian Rose Societies are organising a one-of-a-kind Rose Festival that will attract people of all ages who love the Rose. Over three days (June 19 to 21, 2009), people can tour the gardens, rose show, exhibits and marketplace, partake in talks and demonstrations as well as enjoy entertainment on the main stage, and be surrounded by the Rose.

How does the “Name a Rose Draw” work?

On September 15, 2008, the Convention Secretariat will compile the names of the Convention delegates who have registered and paid for the Rose Convention, and booked accommodation at the Westin Bayshore Hotel. Those names will be entered into the “Name a Rose Draw”. One person’s name will be selected, and a rose named after him or her. The "Name a Rose" contest is sponsored by breeder Brad Jalbert of Select Roses.

To be awarded the prize, you have to actually stay at the Westin Bayshore Hotel during the Convention.

I would like to enter a rose into the Rose Show. Is it complicated if I am not from Canada?

The Convention Secretariat is working with Events on the Move to ensure that the process to bring plants across the Canadian border is simple and straightforward. Visit the Roses Crossing Borders page regularly to receive up-to-date information.

How do I get to the Westin Bayshore Hotel?

The Rose Convention is being held at the Westin Bayshore Hotel, a beautiful location for visitors and locals alike. There many options for getting to the Westin, from biking the seawall to driving, to taking public transportation or taxis. You can visit the “Getting There” page for options, and view the Westin’s website directly for more information. Contact the Convention Secretariat if you have any questions.

I have never visited Canada. Can you fill me in on what to expect?

Canada is a wonderful and welcoming country to visit. With its idiosyncrasies and distinct accents, it will all feel very new to you, but at the same time comfortable and familiar. Visit the Visitor section to learn more about issues like tipping and climate, how to get to Vancouver, and what to see and do once you are here. If you have any questions before you arrive, contact the Convention Secretariat who would be happy to help. Then be prepared for not wanting to leave after the Convention is over!

More Questions and Answers are forthcoming.
