The Convention’s program is full of special events – daily tours, a trip to Butchart Gardens, pre and post tours, the World Rose Festival, and of course, the social events taking place as part of the program.
On registration day, a causal Meet & Greet evening reception will be held at the Westin Bayshore Hotel to commence the World Rose Convention 2009. Take this opportunity to network with your fellow Rose enthusiasts and relax into the Vancouver spirit!
Be sure not to miss the Opening Ceremonies and Welcome Reception, a cheerful start to the World Rose Convention 2009. Meet fellow Rosarians from around the world, reacquaint yourself with old friends from past conventions and meet new ones. The President of the World Federation of Rose Societies, Gérald Meylan, and other dignitaries will welcome you to Vancouver and provide an introduction to the impelling program in store for the week.
The Museum of Anthropology, Canada's largest teaching museum is located in a spectacular building overlooking the mountains and sea. Its soaring glass walls and beautiful setting are uniquely suited to its extraordinary collection of massive Northwest Coast totem poles, carved boxes, bowls and feast dishes, as well as a diverse collection of 35,000 artifacts from around the world. The Museum grounds feature two outdoor Haida Houses and ten full-scale totem poles, two carved house-posts and two contemporary Welcome Figures.
This magical setting will be the backdrop for one of the fabulous optional dinner events offered to convention attendees. You will have access to the exhibits for the evening providing you the opportunity to view the thousands of archaeological objects in the collection. The menu will offer tastes from British Columbia with wild salmon as the main focus.
Climb aboard our charter yacht for a unique Vancouver dining experience, the Sunset Dinner Cruise! You will have unparalleled views of the city skyline, the surrounding Coastal Mountain range and many of the area's most famous landmarks as we cruise around Stanley Park, past the beaches of English Bay and the cruise ship terminal at Canada Place. You will have the best spot in Vancouver to watch the sun slowly disappear into the Pacific Ocean. Take in the sights and sounds of the city as you enjoy a delicious West Coast-themed dinner. Treat yourself to one of Vancouver's favorite dining experiences; it's like dining in all of Vancouver's finest waterfront restaurants in one evening!
As the World Rose Convention 2009 comes to a close, join friends new and old for a grand celebration and send off. A memorable evening complete with traditional West Coast fare, local wines and entertainment is in store. Be prepared to enjoy Canadian hospitality and end your visit to Vancouver with a bang!
