The Conference is over…now what?

Published on January 29, 2018

After the last session, when everyone is on their way home, is the only item left on your to-do list the final report?

It isn’t that long ago when only the Board wanted an update on how well the conference’s objectives were met, but today, your meeting participants and association members are expecting more. Photo galleries of the social events, videos of presentations, forums to discuss key topics … they want to be able to boast about the conference they just attended, to extend their learning, or maybe they have been asked to provide a lunch and learn.

They also want statistics to hold the Board accountable.

Photos, videos and forums are relatively straightforward to provide, given you have done the planning beforehand and have access to the right tools to share these online afterwards, but how do you summarize the statistics, an important piece of the accountable puzzle? You may find them truly interesting, but do numbers and words project the same feelings that a fun group photo does?

Sea to Sky specializes in information. We work with intense amounts of data and are constantly summarizing it into bite-sized chunks so that we can assist Boards and Local Organising Committees in making decisions.

We also specialize in final reports. We understand the importance of providing the current Committee and future Committees with the information they need to make decisions, and to demonstrate accountability to members.  There is a video on Sea to Sky’s about page that speaks to the importance of final reports demonstrating return on investment and achievements.

Once the final report is prepared, it is easy to pull out the statistics your participants are interested in, the ones that illustrate the Association’s accountability.

We then present these key statistics in a visual way so that they are easy to understand and easy to share with others. You might have heard the term infographics? Just look at our last blog featuring Sea to Sky’s “infographic” to get an idea of the breadth and depth of images used to talk about numbers!

Our team is really creative when it comes to presenting information, and we work with some very clever designers who excel in visualizing our ideas and creating infographics.

So for Sea to Sky, our list of things to do post event is actually rather long, and we think this list is pretty important. Give me a call if you want to find out more about our post-event activities.
